When building out a sales strategy, many companies make the mistake of separating their human and online selling processes.
“Online selling is sometimes seen as a technical process that doesn’t require human intervention,” GetApp sales management researcher Karen McCandless told us.
But that’s simply not the case. Sales organizations must better connect with customers via online selling channels, Karen explained, to ensure they provide personalized service to each consumer. A study from Gartner predicts that by 2018, companies with effective personalization in their online selling processes will outsell competitors who don’t by 30 percent.
“This means that even if customers are shopping online, they still want to be recognized and provided with the same kind of service they could expect if they walked into a store,” Karen said.
