Techweek Detroit 2014

“Techweek is where entrepreneurs and tech tycoons alike meet for a week long celebration of all things tech. Our approach is to bring together an entire tech community under a BIG TENT and then shine a global SPOTLIGHT on the ecosystem.” -(techweek.com/detroit)

Why Detroit??

Needless to say, it’s a pretty exciting time here in downtown Detroit, especially for tech startups such as ourselves and all of the brilliant peers we share this city with. An event showcasing what just a few years ago may have been inconceivable, is now in recognition of a full-fledged tech hub.

The entrepreneurial spirit is something native to Detroiters—something we celebrate and embrace and have used from time to time to change the world. This city has given rise to some of the world’s greatest thinkers and personalities, ranging from early 20th century innovators Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh, to modern film and music visionaries Francis Ford Coppola and Jack White. And with a long and distinguished list of inventions and innovations to its credit, Detroit’s history, as well as the prowess of a new generation of entrepreneurs and technologists, are right at home in the spotlight for Techweek Detroit 2014.

Highlights, Speakers, Panels, Parties.

One of the great features of Techweek Detroit 2014 is that it brings many of the world’s leading tech and business minds together in one place to exchange ideas, stories, laughs and goodwill- while companies of all sizes show off what they’re made of and what they’re up to. People with all different levels of expertise and experience can rub elbows and learn about each other in an inspiring and exciting social setting.

Another thing to look forward to at Techweek Detroit? Some of the industry’s leading voices will take the stage to share the experiences and expertise that have shaped them and their careers, as well as the projects and issues that they’re currently focused on.

You can catch our own CEO, Bob Marsh, deliver a sales motivation keynote speech Friday at noon at the Launch Stage, as well several of our other close industry partners and colleagues. Here’s a small selection of the many notable speakers we’re excited about:

  • Josh Linkner (CEO & Managing Partner at Detroit Venture Partners)
  • Rajen Ruparell (Groupon)
  • Dan Gilbert (Founder & Chairman at Rock Ventures & Quicken Loans)
  • Gary Peters (U.S. Congressman)

(full schedule here)

Along with these, attendants can also join in on several different panels, meet-ups and competitions on a variety of industry topics. Some of us are personally looking forward to the Future of Mobile Panel (Friday at 3pm, Summit Stage) to hear some thoughts on where mobile innovation may be leading, while our more en vogue team members will likely be found at the Future of Fashion Tech Panel (Thursday at 4pm, Launch Stage).
