Hit these 10 NYC Destinations at the Salesforce World Tour

Salesforce World TourThe Salesforce World Tour New York is going on next Wednesday, and if you’re making the trip in to attend, why not explore some of the finest attractions the Big Apple has to offer? Whether you’re looking for a good bite to eat or interested in seeing some fine art, we have some great suggestions below for enhancing your time in NYC.

If you’ve never been to NYC, start with some classics…

1) Times Square

The ultimate NYC tourist destination (which is why most New Yorkers avoid it as much as possible), but if you haven’t been to Times Square, it is an impressive spectacle. Just get off at 42nd street and follow the lights and video screens through the crowds rushing pedestrians…you can’t miss it!

2) Grand Central Station

Opened in 1871, this terminal sees upwards of 750,000 commuters through its doors daily. You’ve no doubt seen it in the movies, but it’s worth stopping by in person to see daylight pass through its iconic cathedral style windows.

If you’re ready to chow down…

3) Grab a slice of pizza

You can’t really call it a trip to New York City without grabbing a slice of famous NYC style pizza. There’s no shortage of pizzerias, but some notables are John’s of Bleecker Street for an authentic brick oven slice, and Lombardi’s, who claims the title of “America’s First Pizzeria.”

4) Rather have a sandwich?

New York’s filled with famous sandwich shops, and two of the most popular are Katz’s and Defonte’s. Definitely bring your appetite because these sandwiches don’t mess around. At Defonte’s, the roast beef, eggplant and mozzarella is a classic, and at Katz’s set your sights on a traditional pastrami or corned beef.

If you’re feeling artsy…

5) Metropolitan Museum of Art

There’s no reason why you can’t experience some culture while you’re in town, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the world’s greatest museums. With 2 million works of art spanning 5,000 years, there’s more than enough to see, but don’t try to take it all in at once!

6) The Guggenheim Museum

If the Metropolitan Museum of Art feels like too much to take on, the Guggenheim is a more than worthy alternative. Even if you stop by just to see the building, this Frank Lloyd Wright designed landmark is an NYC classic itself. Inside, you’ll find an impressive display of art from the likes of Picasso and Van Gogh in a one of a kind setting.

If you want to pay your respects…

7) The 9/11 Memorial

New York has been the site of world changing events, and one of the most somber, yet influential was the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. The attacks were felt by people across the world, and if you’ve never visited the area it’s a worthwhile, but sobering experience.

8) The Dakota

Fans of the Beatles don’t need to be told that this is the place John Lennon’s life was tragically cut short. Located just outside Central Park on 72nd street, the building itself has an impressive look, and if you cross the street into the park you can visit the John Lennon “Strawberry Fields” tribute spot as well.

When you’re ready to unwind…

9) Flatiron Lounge

There is no shortage of watering holes in NYC, but if you’re interested in having an old fashioned good time (no pun intended), stop by the Flatiron Lounge. Enjoy well crafted cocktails from the prohibition era in this speakeasy that’s known for its atmosphere as much as its drinks.

10) The Salesforce1 New York Post Event Happy Hour

This is the place to be following the Salesforce World Tour NYC event! We’ll be hanging out and networking with several other great companies at Clyde Frazier’s Wine & Dine, while enjoying appetizers and drinks served right after the event. RSVP here to reserve your spot!

Hopefully these 10 ideas help you make the most out of your stay in NYC. Whether you make regular visits to the city or it’s your first time, New York is endlessly exciting, so be sure to take it all in!
